This training is approved for CE for social workers, counselors, and marriage and family therapists in the state of Ohio. This training is approved for prevention professionals in domain P6 and chemical dependency professionals in domain C7.

Level of Course | 100 Beginner

This training will equip participants with a practical overview of the mental health, emotional wellness, and aging dynamics experienced in older adults. We will examine isolation, mobility, and technology dynamics. We will explore effective ways to approach, support, and refer. Course participants will also be able to ask questions via webinar chat during the Q&A portion of the course.

Objectives

  1. Recognize mental health issues in older adults.
  2. Distinguish life transitions, aging, and coping skills.
  3. Plan for appropriate support and referrals.

Agenda

  • 9:00am – Defining OAs: overview of stats.
  • 9:15am –  MH and emotional wellness aspects: generational changes, items of consideration, ways to approach, support, and refer.
  • 10:15am – Linking to support and referrals.
  • 10:45am – Q&A
  • 11:15am – Close

Participants are required to stay logged-in for the Q&A portion of the training for successful completion, as it is part of the educational portion of this course.

Older Adult Programs Coordinator and Community Counselor, Syntero

Victoria Alexander is the Older Adult Programs Coordinator and Community Counselor at Syntero. She has a degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work, with a specialized focus on older adult counseling and services. She is particularly interested in how emotional health impacts through the physical changes that we experience throughout our lives (mind-body connection) and neuroplasticity. She enjoys learning about new treatment modalities and is a natural advocate to creating positive, effective change within individuals and communities.
