This training is approved for CE for human social workers, counselors, and marriage and family therapists in the state of Ohio. This training is approved for chemical dependency counselors in domain C7 and prevention professionals in domain PE.

Ethical decision-making for helping professionals occurs every day in a variety of settings, however, many times professionals find that legal, ethical, and personal standards come into conflict. This workshop will focus on effective ethical decision-making processes within the context of professional boundaries and behaviors. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss case examples as well as some of the most common ethical and boundary violations. Self-care techniques and the importance of their consistent application will also be explored.
This course is constructed as reading-based and noninteractive.
- Identify ethical issues and dilemmas in the helping-professional practice.
- Develop skills in understanding and resolving ethical dilemmas associated with boundaries and professional behaviors.
- Identify self-care skills and techniques to prevent and reduce burnout, countertransference, and compassion fatigue.

Rachel graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work. Rachel has worked with children, teens, adults, the elderly, and groups since 2006. She has been employed as a clinician, supervisor, educator, and clinical director in community mental health agencies, private practices, universities, colleges, and substance abuse agencies. Currently, she is a contracted Social Work lecturer/professor, clinical internship liaison, and supervisor at The Ohio State University, in addition to being the owner and CEO of WiseMind Consulting & Wellness LLC. As a social work and chemical dependency supervisor, Rachel provides ongoing guidance and supervision to students, interns, and clinicians; both within and outside of her private practice. Expanding knowledge within the field, she presents continuing education workshops on topics such as DBT, EMDR, supervision, ethics, cultural humility, DSM-5, and many more. Her certifications and training include: First woman in the state of Ohio certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy Certified in EMDR (and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant), certified Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator, registered and certified Expressive Arts Therapist, registered Yoga Teacher, and 200hr holistic and healing modalities. Rachel is an ordained minister/reverend through The Church of Radiant Lights and is approved to perform marriages within the state of Ohio. She is also a Reiki Master-Teacher. She believes that holistic and complementary treatment approaches make for the best outcomes and sustained recovery. Presently, Rachel is a doctoral student getting her Ph.D. in Integrative Health & Psychology.
